West and Central Africa
IDRC helps researchers and innovators in West and Central Africa find new ways to improve health, reduce poverty, and promote democracy. Our regional office in Dakar, Senegal coordinates our work in 24 countries, with support to nearly 100 institutions.

In addition to the research we support, our office also runs parallel activities such as:
  • exploring shifting trends in the region
  • developing new partnerships
  • disseminating information
  • communicating with development partners
Since 2001, IDRC’s Regional Council of Advisors for West and Central Africa — composed of high-level local experts — has helped guide our programming in the region.
